Hydraulic Breaker Tools

HKM manufactures over 20,000 tool variants compatible with every major hydraulic breaker brand and model worldwide. Moil point, chisel, blunt and pyramid tools, in standard, hard rock and dust-grooved variants, answer every ground and application.

All our tools are made from heat-treated alloy steel, delivering the same quality and durability as the original (OEM) part at an economical price. The right tool choice raises your breaker’s efficiency, lowers operating cost and protects critical components.

The Three Primary Functions of Breaker Tools

100% Energy Transfer

Deliver 100% of the piston’s impact energy into the rock for peak efficiency.

High Wear Resistance

Maintain high wear resistance to keep your breaker’s operating costs under control.

Component Protection

Protect critical hydraulic breaker components from damage and premature failure.

Tool Types

Each tool type is engineered for a different breaking behaviour. The types below are available in standard, hard rock and dust-grooved variants in our store.

Hydraulic Breaker Tools, Tool Types

Moil Point Tool

Moil Point

Moil Point Tools are specifically crafted for materials that are loosely bound or easily separable. Their slender, tapered profile allows for pinpoint tip placement, ensuring each impact drives the tool directly into the material without deflection. This precision engagement minimizes chatter and slippage, delivering consistent penetration and efficient removal of loose substrates.

Chisel Tool

Chisel

Chisel Tools are versatile, general-purpose breaker tools that combine robust cutting action with precise fracturing for medium-hard and veined materials. Their sharpened edge efficiently penetrates reinforced concrete and hard rock, supplying the power needed to tackle challenging substrates.

Blunt Tool

Blunt

Blunt Tools are engineered to channel the breaker’s full impact energy straight into the toughest materials. Built for maximum energy transfer and durability, Blunt Tools ensure consistent breaking performance in a wide variety of applications.

Pyramid Tool

Pyramid

Pyramid Tools excel at rapidly penetrating non-abrasive materials of varying strengths. Their pointed geometry and optimized cutting angle make quick work of concrete and similar substrates, achieving high penetration rates with minimal effort.

Tool Classes

Every tool type is produced in four classes according to the ground and working conditions. The right class markedly increases the tool’s service life and productivity.

Standard Tool

Delivers balanced performance for the bulk of everyday demolition and breaking, concrete, asphalt and medium-hard rock. The most widely used, versatile option.

Dust Grooved Tool

Engineered with integrated channels that efficiently guide dust and fine particles away from the breaking zone. This improves visibility and precision while reducing tool wear and heat buildup, ensuring longer service life and consistent performance. Available for chisel, moil point and pyramid tools.

Hard Rock Tool

Manufactured from premium high-nickel alloy and put through a specialized hardening process to withstand extreme impact forces and the harshest abrasive rock conditions. Maximum durability, extended service life and reduced downtime make it the preferred choice for heavy-duty quarrying and mining. Available for all tool types.

Dust Grooved + Hard Rock Tool

Combines the clean-working, long-life advantage of the dust-grooved design with the high-nickel alloy and special hardening of the hard rock type. The top-tier tool for the most demanding, abrasive and dusty quarry and mining conditions.

Custom Tool Manufacturing

While we produce four main tool types as standard, we also manufacture custom tools in different geometries and dimensions on request. Get in touch for custom production and any other requirements.

Important Points for Using Breaker Tools

Correct use directly affects tool life and breaker performance. Key points to observe on site:

Working Angle

Always keep the tool at roughly 90° to the work surface; angled operation causes premature wear and breakage.

Lubrication

Regular lubrication with high-temperature, high-pressure grease is essential for tool and bushing life.

Blank Firing

Strike only when the tool contacts the surface; firing without contact stresses the retaining pin and the breaker.

Overheating

Avoid continuous striking on one spot for more than 10-15 seconds; reposition regularly.

Leverage / Bending

Never use the tool as a lever; side loading leads to breakage.

Firm Pressure

The boom and breaker must keep the tool firmly pressed against the workpiece; avoid loose running.

Reconditioning

Not normally required; improper grinding can alter the steel’s structure and hardness.

Material, Quality and Manufacturing

HKM tools are produced through precise heat treatment and hardening of high-alloy steel. Each tool is optimized for the right balance of hardness, toughness and wear resistance, giving long service life against breakage and premature wear.

Moil point, chisel, blunt and pyramid bodies are each machined, in standard, hard rock and dust-grooved variants, to fit the shank dimensions of every brand and model exactly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which tool type should I choose for my breaker?

Tool choice depends on the material you break: moil point for loose/unreinforced concrete and soft ground; chisel for medium-hard, veined material and reinforced concrete; blunt for the hardest/abrasive rock and oversize block breaking; pyramid for fast penetration in concrete. See the “Material-Based Tool Selection” table for details.

What is a dust-grooved tool?

A tool with integrated channels in its body that guide dust and fine particles away from the breaking zone. It improves visibility and precision and extends life by reducing tool wear and heat buildup. Available for moil point, chisel and pyramid tools.

When should I use a hard rock tool?

For hard, abrasive rock such as granite and basalt, and heavy-duty conditions like quarrying and mining. High-nickel alloy steel and special hardening deliver maximum durability and minimum downtime.

Which brands does HKM make tools for?

We make tools for more than 130 brands including Atlas Copco/Epiroc, Furukawa, Rammer, Soosan, Montabert, NPK, Krupp, Daemo, MSB and Toyo. See the brands section on this page for the full list.

Are your tools original quality?

Yes. All our tools are made from heat-treated alloy steel and offer the same quality and durability as the original (OEM) part at a more economical price.
