Red Line or Grey Line?

Both are HKM-manufactured hydraulic breakers built to the same quality discipline. The difference lies in the working pattern each is configured around.

← All comparisons

Short answer

Both lines cover a wide band of carriers, and model selection is made first by tonnage, then by flow and pressure.

The choice of line usually relates to working intensity and site conditions; both lines have models in the same tonnage bands.

For the right decision, compare MODELS rather than lines: enter your machine tonnage, flow and pressure in the selector and the models that suit you will be listed from both lines, with their spec differences side by side.

Red Line

HKM breaker line; includes M models reinforced for mining conditions.

Where it wins

  • Wide tonnage band and model variety
  • M models reinforced for mining and quarrying
  • Options suited to heavy, continuous working patterns

Where it falls short

  • Model-level spec differences should be checked on the product page

Grey Line

HKM breaker line; structured as mini, medium and heavy classes.

Where it wins

  • Clear positioning through mini / medium / heavy classes
  • Wide choice for smaller-tonnage machines
  • A balanced choice for common demolition and infrastructure work

Where it falls short

  • Model-level spec differences should be checked on the product page

How to decide

There is no general ranking between the lines; the decision is made at model level. The order below is the right approach.

Decision rules

You cannot decide which line to buy
Do not start from the line; enter tonnage, flow and pressure in the selector. Matching models will come from both.
You will work continuously in mining or quarrying
Consider the reinforced M models.
You have a smaller machine and mixed work
Look at the mini/medium classes of the Grey line.
Material hardness varies
Tool type matters more than model choice; see the tools page.

Frequently asked

Is the Red line more powerful than the Grey line?

That generalisation is not correct. Both lines have models in different tonnage and power classes; the comparison should be made at model level rather than line level. List the models that suit your machine with the selector and view their spec values side by side.

What are the M models?

The M suffix marks models reinforced for mining and quarrying conditions: continuous working, abrasive material and dusty environments.

Which line has easier spare part supply?

Both are HKM-manufactured and spare part supply runs through the same channel. The spare part categories contain parts for both lines, and we also make parts compatible with more than 130 breaker brands.
